I am proud to say that the Model Engineer magazine has just published the first part of three articles on how I made the chess set for my younger brother Stephen, on his retirement from Devon and Coornwall Police.

The first part was published in issue 4345 on 13th February 2009 and I would like to thank David Clark the editor for his help with both the publishing and the drawings (which I supplied as hand drawn) drawn up by his illustrator.

If you are not familiar with the magazine, one of the oldest, if not oldest model engineering magazines in the world then why not visit their parent website as they also sell plans and books.

At last I have completed the consrtuction notes for the chess set I designed and built during 2007 and presented to my brother, Stephen on his retirement from the Devon and Cornwall Police service, after 30 years of public service.

The notes are sufficient for an experienced model engineer to follow I am sure, but for a novice they may be a little difficult to follow. After you have downloaded the notes and would like to know more, you can email me for photo's and help. If you want to dowload the pdf notes then click here .

An article is being written for novice model engineers to be published in a UK model magazine but photo's, diagrams and technical drawings have to be finished before that can be sent in. Watch this space as they say.
